Pdf Summary
In this presentation, the researchers aimed to explore the role of signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) in advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and its prognosis. They used the TCGA database to analyze the overall survival (OS) prognosis of STAT3 in stage III and stage IV lung cancer, specifically lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) and lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC).

Their analysis revealed that high expression of STAT3 was associated with a longer OS in both advanced LUAD and LUSC. However, the expression of STAT3 was not related to the infiltration of immune cells or other immune indicators in the tumor microenvironment.

Further exploration of the STAT3 pathway showed its correlation with the MYC pathway in advanced LUAD and the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway in LUSC. Additionally, STAT3 was significantly associated with tumor dying of natural metabolism in both LUAD and LUSC.

Based on these findings, the researchers concluded that STAT3 does not have an anti-tumor immune role in advanced NSCLC but rather exerts an anti-tumor function.
