Pdf Summary
This paper discusses the need for proper training of nurses in developing nations, specifically in the care of lung cancer patients. The study aimed to assess the knowledge, perception, and attitudes of nurses in a Cancer-NGO set-up regarding nursing care for lung cancer patients. The questionnaires were distributed to nurses in rural and tribal areas, and the results were analyzed using simple statistical methods.

The findings revealed that the knowledge, perception, and attitudes of the nurses towards cancer care were minimal, with only a small number of nurses showing special skills and positive attitudes towards caring for cancer patients. Most of the nurses expressed a desire for better training options. Additionally, a significant number of nurses showed interest in thoracic oncology.

The paper highlights the importance of oncology nursing and the need for resources to support training initiatives for nurses. It emphasizes that trained nurses can greatly improve the quality of life of cancer patients. The presentation will showcase the role of cancer nurses, the impact on patient quality of life, and the necessary education for competent nursing care of lung cancer patients.

The keywords associated with this topic are nurses, oncology, and training. This paper is part of the Multidisciplinary Care: Nursing, Allied Health, and Palliative Care track at the WCLC 2023 conference.
