Pdf Summary
The LungTrust methodology is a project aimed at analyzing cases of Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) in low and middle-income countries (LMIC) like Colombia. The goal of the project is to identify inefficiencies in the healthcare system related to NSCLC and propose solutions to improve patient outcomes and experiences.

The methodology involved dividing participants into ideation tables and implementing agile work methodologies such as Lean, Metaplan, and Design Thinking. Inefficiencies were diagnosed using a customer journey map and a value stream map, and potential solutions were generated. A cross-pollination panel consisting of experts from different fields was also included in the process.

The LungTrust group identified 70 potential inefficiencies, including the absence of clear state policies, low levels of education on NSCLC, poor understanding of the disease by patients and the community, and fragmentation in the healthcare system. They proposed five strategies to overcome these inefficiencies, including the redesign of service models, the implementation of a stepped model for screening and early detection, and the development of digital solutions such as a lung cancer pathways connector and a control tower for disease management.

The implementation of agile methodologies and the involvement of experts from different fields proved to be effective in capturing perspectives and developing solutions for NSCLC. The LungTrust methodology can be applied to other oncological diseases and different regional contexts.

Overall, the LungTrust methodology provides a framework for identifying and addressing inefficiencies in the healthcare system related to NSCLC in LMICs. By using agile methodologies and incorporating expertise from various sectors, the project aims to improve patient outcomes and experiences and create adaptable solutions for LMIC countries.
