Pdf Summary
A study conducted on patients with lung cancer aimed to characterize sexual dysfunction (SD) in a cohort of Spanish patients. The research found that there is a high prevalence of sexual dysfunction among these patients, with severe disorders of most phases of sexual response being reported with a frequency of 40-59%.

The study included 141 patients, with an average age of 64 years. Of these, 54.6% were men and 45.4% were women. 68% of the patients had metastatic disease, and the time of diagnosis ranged from 2-4 years in 71% of the patients. The main types of treatment reported were chemotherapy (39%), immunotherapy (29%), and targeted therapy (18%).

It was found that 12% of patients were under follow-up, and 40.5% of men and 36.2% of women reported being sexually active. The study also identified several statistically significant associations. Patients with a time of diagnosis of 2-4 years and those under follow-up had a higher risk of global sexual dissatisfaction. Female gender and age 65 years were associated with dissatisfaction with sexual performance, while female gender and age 65 years were also associated with severe disorder of orgasm.

In conclusion, the study highlights the high prevalence of sexual dysfunction among lung cancer patients. Risk factors for sexual dysfunction were identified as being female, age 65 years, and having a time of diagnosis of 2-4 years. The findings suggest the need for improved follow-up strategies and specific support for sexual dysfunction in this population.
